Navigation

Hi everyone.

I am new here and I got my 05 4.4 about 2 weeks ago. So far, I like it a lot. I used to have ML 350 and I was very unhappy with it, so decided to trade for X5.

I have a question for everyone. When I order the X5 I decided not to get Nav. because I heard product called TomTom go. Has anybody have experience of this product?

Thanks

I used the TomTom Pocket PC edition briefly and its pretty good. Impressed with its capability and accuracy. Its sitting unused now.

The built in navigation is far superior to any hand held product because its built into the system and is therefore more sophisticated and accurate. For example, when there is no GPS signal, the built in NAV still calculates movement probably using the digital compass and other electronics of the car. Also I find the tom tom design ugly and in any case anything that is not bulit in will not look nice attached to the front panel of the car.

s..t

I think, it was a mistake not to order Nav. Hmmm..

Man, I guess, I have to live with it. I will try TomTom product to see if it works.

Has anybody know how much it will be to install Nav. system now?

Thanks.

Its unfortunately a rip off to have it installed after production. I guess a hand held nav is better than no nav!

check out the garmin streetpilot 2610

http://www.garmin.com/products/sp2610/

I bought one about a year ago, it's a great product, just toss a 1GB Compact Flash card in it and you're ready to go. newegg has them for under $700 now.

Gresch turned me on to the StreetPilot and I love it. Although I wish I had gotten NAV originally, I truly like having the aftermarket setup.

Its actually better IMO than OEM b/c its touchscreen and I can use it in other cars (wifes or rental car when traveling).
