Not a problem at all, I have an iPod that lives in the BMW.

The heat won't be an issue for the hard drive?

The iPod should always be removed from the vehicle on hot days.

I've had mine for about 4 months now and have to say that I think it's flaky. Just this afternoon, I was switching songs on my ipod from the steering controls, and it just stopped. I had to pull over and reset my DICE to get it to work. It also has issues figuring out the controllers from time to time, and it absolutely hates switching between two people's IPods without freaking out (mine and the wife's).

There is also a HUGE difference in sound quality between the DICE and the factory CD Changer. I have BSW's Stage II and it sounds MUCH MUCH MUCH better with the radio than with the Ipod via DICE. Which is kind of a bummer, since most of us who have big libraries on our IPods don't like the radio that much.

I was actually considering getting the Dension Gateway 500 for my Audi A8, but after this purchase, I think I'm just gonna wait and see if Audi brings out their as promised retrokit.

Just my $.02,
Scott

Hey Tom, I bought a DSP converter from you guys... works perfect by the way, but my question is, I get a whine when I accelerate. Do I just need a filter on the positive cable?

Sorry to hijack the thread with a different question

That is odd, as my experience with the Dice sound quality wise has been quite the opposite. In fact, it sounds just as good-and maybe even slightly better on some songs-than the factory CD changer. The radio sounds terrible in mine-much worse than the Dice/iPod combination. Yes, mine has glitched occasionally, but overall it works great.

Try relocating the DSP converter ground beforehand to see if this rids of the noise.

So does Dice charges the iPod?

PS: Yes it does, ...should read closely.

Tom can you explain price difference b/w DICE kit for non-DSP trunk interface ($148) and DSP ($228)? Is it different unit or just additional cables for DSP? Also can I leave my iPod in the trunk all the time?
