Fuse Help?

Hey All,

I recently needed to jump start my X5 after letting the battery drain while installing new tints. When we finally got it up and running again, I noticed that the central locking button and cabin lights no longer function. I have to manually lock and unlock my doors. Any idea's on what fuses I should check or hints on what to look for? I hate to bring it to the dealer for a relatively simple problem.

Thanks for any insight!

There are fuses in both the right rear access panel and in the glove box area. Both areas should be labeled to tell you what fuses are associated with which particular electrical functions. I'm not near my vehicle at the moment to tell you which fuse is associated with the door locks, but it shouldn't be hard to determine this by doing a quick visual in these two areas.

let me guess. when you lock your car via the keyhole on the driver side exterior door handle, everything locks and the alarm beeps like normal, right? but the central locking button and interior lights don't work, right?

i had the same issue too. but it was after installing a sub in my X. apparently I popped a fuse or something 'cause I heard a POP when I went to hookup the power and ground for the amp. i checked ALL of the fuses and none looked blown. I had to suck it up and take it to the dealer for them to fix it. When I get home, I'll type up what the service receipt says the problem was.

Yup, that's exactly my problem. I've checked my fuses and all seem to be OK. Thanks for looking into your invoice for me!

Hello,

Did either of you ever get a resolution to this issue? I'm experiencing the same exact issue.

Thanks,

-B

Based on this thread and others, I am totally never letting my car go without starting it within 2-3 days max, and I will change my battery prior to CPO running out. Sorry i don't have a solution, but thank you for bringing my attention to the matter. Good luck

My battery was dead because it was old (OEM from 2002). I replaced the battery and the issue persists.

The good thing I believe is this will be covered by CPO warranty. I take it on Monday and will let everyone know what the outcome was and how they fixed it. I searched the TIS and couldn't find anything

Relay

Dealership called and said that the problem was with a relay inside the central locking module. All of the issues (central lock button, interior lights, and remote) are all related the the broken relay.

He said it would be $675 (USD) to replace the module with a new one as just the relay couldn't be replaced.

They didn't know my car was CPO, so when I told him that, he said it would be covered by the CPO warranty.

Not sure what an indie would charge.
