Just test drove the RR sport

Originally scheduled for saturday but after another error message in the x5, I was ready to trade in my car for a RR sport. Here is a quick review:

Looks:
Love the look from the front and the sides. Very aggressive and at the same time arrogant and classy. The back is okay since the base model does not come with dual chrome exhausts. The car is almost identical in size compare to the x from the outside. It sits a little higher due the ground clearance. Inside the fit and finish is first class, though not as rich looking as the x's interior, it also feels smaller on the inside. Voice navigation with 4 wheel drive display is cool, rear entertainment on the headrest is awesome and the backseats are some of the best i've ever sat in. Very cushioned compared to our car. The center console has lots of buttons with green display, very land rover like.

Performance:
The sales guy took us on a rocky hill that is about 45 degrees. Switched to the rock climbing mode, the car raised itself a few inches and went over the hill without a sweat. And we used hill descent control for downhill which our vehical is also equiped with. Then he took up to this course where the hill is slanted SIDEways about 45 degrees. We were like you gotta be (*$%#%& kidding me. Amazingly it went right over without any drama. The car felt like a snail sticking side ways on a tree branch, very impressive. This car can sure handle NYC potholes without any problems.
On the highway it was a different story. After driving my x5 to the dealership, and now driving the RR. I felt like I just got out of a M3 and jumped into a x5. The steering feel is just not there, and is very light/lose. Acceleration is definitely in the 8's if not 9's. Though overall the car felt very solid but still drove like a land rover, not a sports sedan/wagon whatever you want to call it. The Supercharged one might be different but they were all sold out and there is a 3 months wait on it.
Bottom line is the more I test drive other cars, the more I appreciate BMW's, even with all the hassles and high maint nature of the ownership. (which i'm sure landrover isn't much better by the way) I can only wish BMW still owned LR and dropped the 4.8 into the RR sport, because that would've been a no brainer.
Enjoy your rides guys/gals, because they aint much competition out there ( for the price) if on road performance is important to you , yet.

J: Pretty good review,imo...
one of the Geezers at the Club just got one, (he lives in FLA 8 months a yr; real RR country,Lol!)

I drove it last week around the block. I came back in 10 mins and he wondered why I didn't drive it further. It's v. well done, and probably fun if you are doing serious off road; loved your snail analogy. But, on the roads and highways of the USA, it ain't close
to an X. BR,md

Nice read, but i still could not be convinced on the quality and reliability issues that plague LR. Not to mension resale....mmm stick with BM's

Ahh your making me miss my Range Rover! LOL The RR Sport is nice, I've had one as a loaner car, but I hated the no auto up/down all windows and the rear seat can't hold a candle to the X5's

Be prepared to have the RR at the dealer for 2 months in a year for repairs. Make sure you get a X5 loaner at that time.
