Careless Dealers!
I just have to rant a little bit about my local BMW dealer. I took my X5 in for some warranty work. I also asked them to reprogram my auto lock and daytime running lights. The warranty work was all covered, and I just had to pay for an hour charge for the reprogram. Not only did I have to pay for a full hour - $90 (for a 20-30 minute job), but they also charged me $13 for shop supplies. If I am not mistaken, plugging my car into a computer does not require the use of shop supplies. It really irks me when dealers charged a fixed percentage for shop supplies.
In addition to that, they also damaged my vehicle. When they removed the door panel, they somehow yanked a wire loose from my door tweeter speaker. When they replaced my passenger door panel, they screwed up. The door lock post does not go up and down correctly now. And finally, they put a small dent in the outside of my passenger door. I fixed the speaker connection myself. I'll take care of the lock post later (if I can figure it out). As for the ding, I did not notice it until the next day after I left - when it was too late. So take it back ASAP and RANT!
But do it quietly and with force. Words like lawsuit, lawyer, charging for your lost time etc.
