Xenon headlight loom adaptor

OK so I've got myself a pair of Xenon units to replace my standard 01 X5 headlight light units. I'm doing all the good bits of opening them up, fitting angel eyes, getting rid of the orange refectors etc, but I see a problem on the horizon.

I suspect I'm going to need some sort of loom adaptor from the old halogen connector plug to the new ballast. How do people do this? Is this a main dealer part of aftermarket suppliers?

Secondly someone has sold me a pair of ballasts but they look very different to the aftermarket units sold as ballasts. These are about 3" square with a single rectangular connector on the reverse. Any good or do I need to buy aftermarket with the 2 connectors on the end?

Sorry if I'm vague but new territory for me.

Thanks for any help and comments
