*Note: Mods, you may feel free to move this thread to the dealer forum if necessary. I have some ranting to do. Okay...so I get a call from my SA who turns out to be the Assistant Service Manager, that the X is ready for pickup. I basically abondon a couple deadlines, grab my camera to upload some pics as promised and head up to Westchester from Times Square. An hour later, I anxiously arrive at the dealer in Westchester. I receive my service receipt and they bring around the X around. As I review the receipt, I can't help but wonder how i'm paying over 2k USD for labor alone! "It's a BMW", I tell myself and a friend who accompanied me for a drive back into the city. So i decide to inspect the car to make sure everything is in working order. I lift the hood to double check for my new hood sensor. Everything seems to be in order. The X starts with a commanding growl...I push the unlock button to open the door for my road companion and the lock doesn't open...after a second and third try, I take the keys out to test the key lock/unlock button. That doesn't work either! At this point, I'm beyond furious! My SA and a mechanic toy around with it and consider if perhaps my built-in-radar detector may have something to do with it and may have to keep it overnight again (it's been in service going on 2 weeks) and will contact my warranty company to cover the diagnosis. I advise him that that warranty company may refuse to cover since the problem never existed before the car was braught in for service and when they refuse, I will not cover the cost since the failure occured while in their posession. Pardon my ranting...perhaps I expected mre from Westchester BMW. I'm pissed that I'm paying over 2k in labor and somehow, nobody seems to catch the failure!
After being frustrated with all dealers in NYC...I think I'd rather give the local mechanics a shot. I'm sure they would give me a lot more bang for 2k in labor!By the way...Jofran is now working with the Mini Cooper service department... Last edited by chilliwilli; 06-20-2007 at 12:09 AM. |

Update...picked up the X from dealer on Thursday without any further issues this time around. The problem with the locks was some type of module they had to replace (if anyone needs the part # pm me). The X feels like it's definitely been tuned, I took her out for a nice long ride after a session around 2am EST. The streets and highway's were clear so I flirted with her engine a bit. The radar detector came in handy on a couple straight-away's but overall, the drive confirmed the reason's I passed up on the Range, FX45 and Escalade. So I stop to fill her up and as I'm making my way out I somehow activate the hazard lights. As I walk around to the pump, I notice the hazard lights are different colors. I had to take a second look because I thought my eyes were buggin' out. The one that was supposedly replaced was emitting a yellow light whereas the previous was clear/white. Turns out they installed the wrong part...
...If any service personnel is reading this: if a customer pays over $2,000 in labor alone, is it too much to ask that customer receives vehicle as expected? Seriously do you people not visually confirm that a vehicle has really and truly been serviced? If they didn't have the right part, I'd prefer they wait untill they do before calling me to pickup! Unless they knew all along and didn't think I'd find out... ...

Westchester BMW
I take it there too for all warranty related issues (bought my car there too). Tony Canzanella is my SA and he is the best. I highly recommend him.

. It seems the key is establishing a good relationship with a service advisor in order to get the service you deserve...but I just don't have the time, energy nor interest to kiss anybody's *%#@ %#$ ass. The amount of money I end up paying the stealer should be enough to arouse them to do their job!Would I recommend Westchester? Honestly, I couldn't say...not after my first experience. Perhaps, if I decide to return I could give a recommendation but at the momemt...consider them at your own risk!
