Feels like I'm limping
My 2 months old new tire just became asphalt. I got the staggered 19s slapped on not too long after I took delivery of it 3 years ago. Needless to say, I have not seen much of my X with 17s…until now. It’s an odd look…seeing how the front tire is now wider than the rear. The skinny 235 looks like a donut compared to the 285 on the other side.

…And here’s the culprit. Saw it on my way out to lunch today. Just my luck that this only time I decided not to buy roadside hazard replacement, I got screwed…literally. It’s lodged into the outer rib, which is un-repairable. A new tire is on ordered, which will relieve me of about 3 bills
Sorry…just wanted to vent.

Pull out the screw, obtain a push in repair kit (no need to even take the wheel off the vehicle), repair the hole, blow up the tyre and you're on your way. Have done this type of repair on all of my cars, and they have always worked.

I have a few of those, (removed) from my take off/hanging around
set of eom style 69s with oem Michey 18s: they are all "patched" from the inside, and never had a prob. My newer set of 19 132s also caught a screw like that in a very similar location on the tread, on driver front: patched from inside and I don't give it a 2nd thought. I realize many here think the safe/high road is to buy a new tire, but for street/highway driving at less than 8/10ths and under a hundred mph, I personally don't give it a 2nd thought. Your MMV. Well...a couple of other tire shops concur that it is not repairable...at least they don't want to take on the liability. So, I will be limping around like this for the next few days until a new tire arrive since no one around here stock these (or similar size) tires. I'm now so glad that the car came with a spare (a full size spare, no less). At least I won't have to putt around under 50mph
I often wonder how people with runflats do without a spare while waiting for their tires to be ordered (rent-a-car, I guessed). If I can help it, I will never buy a car without a spare!
