panorma sunroof

We are in the process of looking for a x5. We have test driven a few with the panorama sunroof. It seems like if you are going over 30mph with the sunroof all the way open you get a very loud flutter sound. We got on the freeway and i thought my ears were going to pop. Is this normal?

Unfortunately yes, it is normal. You can lessen the effect by opening another window(s) to allow for some airflow. It will still be noisy with the whole panorama roof open but not as bad.

The add-on wind deflector helps cut down on the noise.

Big time..Also, you can get side deflectors that will pretty much eliminate it completely..

If it is in the first setting (not completely open) it is much quieter... I only opened it 100% once and that was enough for me.

It is quite noisey but a nice option to have when friends get in the rear of me car they say that Does'nt go all the way back Does it I flick the switch with grin!! Is ok at low speeds if you want to go highway speed just drop the rear windows a inch then is fine ! I would not be without it I love it !

Panorama sunroof is a must. Without a doubt! Just the brightness is worth it, even when closed.

After you get the panoramic sunroof, all other sunroofs look so tiny. Go for it.

As has been suggested already just crack open one of the rear windows by an inch or so which will stop the boominess. The speed at which this happens depends on the wind speed outside the car. It's never less than about 50mph in my experience but sometimes if the air is particularly still I can drive along at any speed without boominess.

Another option is just to open one window in the roof, this shouldn't cause any boominess. You can also press the button which will cause both roof panes to tilt and provide air without any undue noise.

If it's any consolation with the roof fully open the boominess completely stops when you drive about 105mph...
