I have the HIDs on mine, so I'm good to go. That theft thing is definitely a NY/NJ issue. Doesn't really happen here in Atlanta — or I don't hear much of it. I was born and raised in NYC, so I feel your pain.

Thank you for the input.

If the truck is almost paid off I will say keep it, once it's yours you can put aside an emergency fund in case anything breaks, if you keep up with the maint. the truck should be fine for another 100k, the beauty of Bmw's is that they don't go out of style, IMO my 01 looks better than a lot of newer vehicles out there and performs better too.

i own my 02 x5 outright, no car payment on it. i am also undecided between trading it in and keeping it. i went to one dealer last month and tested the water, they say they would take my x5 (77K miles) and sell me the 05 x5 low miles with a $450 a month on 60 months term. i love my x5 and modded it to my taste already. is there any other reason i should trade it in? they both look almost the same to me.

Gotta be honest with you. If I had NO car payment, I would seriously consider staying with the car. The most dramatic change I've seen throughout different years are the headlights in 03. The panoramic roof in 04. Really, nothing elese major in my eyes. Biggest change is the newest model. (god it's pretty) just cannot swing the cash. Also, almost know what to expect from your current X5. Newer car, new set of issues?

Don't forget the $27,000 you get to keep and invest if you continue to enjoy your present ride.
