No, in manual mode it will allow you to pull away from a stop in 3rd, 2nd, or 1st. It has gobs of torque and can do this with ease. If you are in 4th and come to a stop, it will downshift to 3rd. But it will not continue to downshift to 2nd or 1st. You pick the gear you want.

Now, if you are talking about Sport mode and NOT manually shifting, that is a whole different story and a problem. If you are just in Sport mode, not shifting it yourself, it will downshift to 1st when you come to a stop. If it doesn't take it in for service.

Shifting down to 2nd instead of third must be a difference in the 3.0 and 4.4/4.6/4.8. I think we are talking about a 4.4 here.

Pretty sure thats what the transmission manual says. No difference between sport or full auto. Its all for fuel economy and wear and tear reducion in stop and go.

So it would be ok for the car to start on 3rd gear after a full stop on manual mode?? Will that be bad for the transmission?
