Need help with X dying today
So in the divorce, the ex-wife got the X5. We're still joint lease holders, but she has it. Grrrrrrr.....
Anyway. I'm getting text message after text message from her about the car dying. Here's what I'm getting out of her in text messages. (I'm in NYC, the car is in Princeton, NJ, BTW) "car just died out of nowhere when I turned into a parking spot. What would cause that?" "No, it's a full tank of gas right now" "No warning lights are on or came on. It just stopped." A few texts later and she starts the car up again. She is now on her way home. "Car "shook" at one light but otherwise fine. Do you think battery? Or driver error? I had turned sharp right to park and it just stopped dead." "No, no inidications or warning lights. I'm surprised - it alerted when a tire was low a while ago." So.... Here's more background. '05 X5 3.0i, just had the 30k service a few months ago. Has never had engine or electrical problems. She had one parking lot dink that took out a tail light last fall, but otherwise the X has been FLAWLESS. I'm thinking a faulty fuel delivery / fuel injector problem. The lack or warning lights (and the fact that I am 65 !$@!#%# miles away from the car right now is an issue, but is there something she could look for - or just head to the dealership? Sorry - I'm short on time and didn't really search this evening (to be completely honest). Thanks - Tom
