i am still going to go with the toyos. I think as long as i get alignment checked and stay on top of the tire pressure should be all good.

We350Z, I had an Expedition with Toyo's (12,ooo miles) and they were fine. I think with the X5 it is more of the angle of the rear wheels that causes the noise.

I wonder, if you had the same size wheels front and back, if rotating would help to reduce the potential noise.

yea i pondered that same thing, you know what you could still do tho is rotate them side to side. However since the tires are direcitonal you would need to dismount them from the rims, and swap the tires when remounting. this isn't an issue if the tires aren't directional. might be worth the 60 bucks not sure about that. It may also be possible to adjust camber via a kit or something so that it is more optimal for a wider tire.

I had 2003 350Z that had an alignment issue from the factory in the front. It would eat tires like crazy. Irregular wear pattern (saw-tooth) would form in the inside of the front tires after abnout 4K miles. This caused excessive road noise and steering wheel vibration feedback. It really pissed me off that a brand new car that cost almost $40K was doing this. SO much so that I sold it, I think Nissan finally admitted to the problem and fixed though it took them a loooong time.

This problem on the 350Z's also seemed to happen quicker with the stock Bridgestron Potenza RE040's, it was speculated because the tire used a softer rubber compound. The Toyo's may be similar.

Check this thread out if you have a couple years set aside to read it LOL.

I am going to buy a set of replica 10.5 for up fron with Toyo's. That way I can rotate them fron to back. I figure it will cost around $950 for the wheels and tires. That will be off-set by selling my OEM 9.5 inch Type 87's and 1 Michelin that still has a lot of life....
