Retrofit a headlight washer system possible on non headlight washer system?

Has anybody ever done a retrofit of a headlight washer system on your X5 bumper without the system in there? Here is my goal, I have a headlight washer system on my X5 now, but want a new/used bumper without the system installed due to damage on prior bumper and avaiablility of used non washer system bumper. Can I just cut holes and xfer my old system or are the two bumpers that much different, that I can not use a bumper without the headlight washer system?

I hope so

I bought the retrofit kit on Ebay and will be installing it on mine. It states that on the inside of the bumper, the cutouts are molded in. Good luck.

Great so it sounds like all bumpers have the capability of being retro fit for the headlight washer? Unless I am reading this wrong.

Sounds Like It

Sounds like it. Here is a link to the kit I bought on EBay. I bought paint from paintscratch.com to paint the cover.

I just had my front bumper cover (with headlight washers) off to repair some damage where a guy backed into me ($1700 profit on that incident, heh heh, by doing the work myself) and I don't see any reason why the retrofit couldn't be done. You would need the additional pump in the washer fluid resivior and cut the appropriate holes in the bumper. The washer nozzles and covers are about $15 each.

Installed

I installed my retrofit kit. The 2 hard parts were putting on the metal clips that hold the nozzles in and getting the courage to cut the bumper. I used a dremel and a saw bit to cut the holes. The bumper is easy to off. I did it from memory after reading the DIY article about a month ago. Since I was prewired for it, it made it nice. I need to get the truck coded for it now then I will know if it worked or not. Good luck on yours.

Can you upload the retrofit procedure with photos? I am also thinking of doing it to my x5. Is it difficult? Or maybe someone here can upload the official retrofit/installation instruction please? Thanks!
