Anyone put 4.8is gauges in a 4.4i or 3.0?
It seems like it would be a pretty straightforward swap...has anyone done this? I couldnt find any references to it in the articles section.

Yes, I know several that have done this. Note that you'll have to have the dealer recode the correct mileage into the new cluster or else you will get a mileage tamper warning in the dash. Also, the oil temp guage won't be functional.

Just wondering about cluster replacement. I see several clusters on Ebay and wondered why they exist. I noticed that these actually sell, and was wondering if people are buying them to falsify their odometer readings? From the above post it seems that replacing the cluster will protect future buyers with the error message. I did notice that there is a procedure in the self help section to fix pixel failure, and wondered why this doesn't give the same error message.

The error message is not really a message but a dot..."manipulation dot". Mainly designed for the dealer to identify mileage fraud. If a vehicle comes in with a manipulation dot, they can hook up to the DIS machine to check the vin of the cluster and compare mileage with the lamp module where mileage is also stored.

One hour labor but no more than an hour and a half is what the dealer would probably charge.
