Exclamation Need help w/ hardwiring V1...

Hey guys, just wanted to ask those of you who hardwired your V1 to your Homelink...do you have to manually turn your radar detectors on and off? How does it work. My friend suggested that I hardwire my V1 to the fuse area so that when I turn my engine on and off, it also turns my V1 on and off at the same time without having to manually adjust my V1.

just on a side note...does anyone else have girlfriends who like to read their posts out-loud...making them sound stupid...and then put faces on the end of their posts for them??? ...

LOL...No, my wife does not do that, glad to say.

I am not much of a DIYer, so I had my dealer hard-wire my V1. I am not sure how they did it, but I do know that it turns itself off when I shut the engine off, and correspondingly, it turns on when I turn the engine on.

Good luck -- with both you V1 install and your g/f.

Juan

I hard-wired my V1 to the Homelink and it turns the V1 on and off with the ignition. As for the other question about the girlfriend....uh....no

The instructions on the home page are perfect:

The S1 is a great V1 companion. I DIY'd em both myself.

Where did you mount the V1, if I may ask? I want to get the S1, but the instructions are not very clear as where one should mount the V1. Obviously, you want it out of sight, but where...?

I have my V1 mounted between the console and the sunvisor. There is some room betweent the roof and headliner on the drivers side, I put the S1 there.

I'm sorry if this sound dumb, but do you mean that your V1 is tucked underneath the headliner? If so, how's reception? Or is the V1 mounted ON the headliner and covered by the sun visor?

Sorry for the confusion, the V1 itself is mounted on the windshield with the suction cups in the area between the sun visor and console. The stealth one is mount in the headliner. Hope that clears it up.

My V1 is way up high on the windshield, to the left of the rearview mirrow, so I can adjust the volume when necessary. It is so close to the visor that I can't really use it.

The V1 is hard to see from outside the car, and at night, without the lights on the V1 thanks to the S1, it is pretty stealth. At least, stealth enough for me. :p
