Thanks for clarifying, guys! I am seriously considering the S1.

The S1 allows you to keep you V1 in stealth mode and transfer the information to your instrument cluster display and/or NAV screen.

I am not much of a DIYer, so I had my dealer hard-wire my V1. I am not sure how they did it, but I do know that it turns itself off when I shut the engine off, and correspondingly, it turns on when I turn the engine on.

Good luck -- with both you V1 install and your g/f.

Juan
R U saying that BMW dealer did it for you? How much did they charge you for that? I am very interested in hard-wiring V1. I just got ticket for 42/35 zone. I need to take class to waive the point.

Thanks

It takes about 5 minutes to hardwire yourself. You just need a torx screwdriver, a flashlight, the wire tap, and a beer to drink throughout the process.

You won't be dissapointed, Juan! I installed both my V1 & S1 myself (quite easy as others mentioned) and it works really well - I love it!

The S1 install is a bit more involved. Took me 2 beers perhaps.

Yup! Paid the tech $25 bucks! Took him 15 minutes! The best $25 dollars I have ever spent.

Agreed - I think that's a pretty accurate measure: 1 beer to hardwire the V1 & 2 beers to include the S1 - 3 beers total, max...
