Are 20's to big for a 3.0?

Hey everyone. Quick question, are 20's to big for a 3.0? Do you think it would actually hurt the X5's in performance? I also noticed that my neighbors 4.8 has a much larger brake caliper then my 3.0. What do you guys think? I wanted to give a present to our baby when she (he) comes home from the ICU. If it was feasible I was thinking of the 4.6 rims. But something is telling me that is not. So I am looking up to you guys

David

How much performance are you willing to give up? And what kind of driving conditions does your car go through?

LOL at ICU!!

David, definitely go for the 4.6 rims for your baby and no, 20s aren't too big for the 3.0. Those rims are heavier than the ones you have right now so they performance will be compromised somewhat. But nothing that you'll notice driving around town. Go for it!

But to quote Dennis Miller, "Then again, what the hell do I know?"

A guy at my stealer today told me that the 20" wheels that I just bought would be too wide and stick out b/c I don't have the sports package on my 02 4.4? Is this true?

He recommended that I get the aero kit or fender flares, but I can't believe this is right.

Get the 20's, your performance isn't going to diminish that much.

20's fit the X5 regardless of "fender flares". The dealer is simply trying to get you to buy more crap. I have 20's on my X5 4.4 w/o sport package as do other X owners.....

Good God!!!!!! 77 friggin degrees? The high here yesterday was THIRTY SEVEN DEGREES! and we considered that warm... Anyway, go for the rims... If I hadn't gotten rid of the X5, I would have a set of those going on the car sometime around now.
