Maintenance Program: Current prices?

I have a 2005 4.4 with 37,000 miles on it and I am considering getting the extended maintenance.

When I bought the car as a CPO with 14,000 on it (from Ramsey, NJ) they gave me a price of $1200 for the extended maintenance. I have since moved to California and I have been taking the car to Center BMW in Van Nuys.

The car was in the dealer about 6 months ago and they gave me a price of $1500 on the extended maintenance. I brought the car in yesterday and they gave me a price of $2000. Ouch! At that price it is bordering on not worth it.

Is is possible that the price has escalated like that? I did some reasearch on this site for pricing but the only "offical" pricing guide I could find was from 2004.

My question(s): What is the current right price for this program? Also, do I need to present the car at the dealer to get the maintenance program or can I call around state to state and do it over the phone? Anyone have a dealer suggestion?

I know this topic has been gone over repeatedly but I just wanted to see what the latest information is.
