I did it too in the end of last year. Zulu95 helped me a lot in getting the resistor to eliminate the error message in dash board. All of the work is pretty easy. If your X is originally equipped with leveling motor, then just plug the socket on and it works fine, just like mine. If your X does not equipped with leveling motor, just ignore it, plug all other sockets on and it works fine without the leveling function. One thing should be noticed, it is not easy to find the Hella HID ballast with the rubber cover (only available in BMW parts department) in the market and the rubber cover is not removable and is specifically made for BMW by Hella. Most Hella HID ballasts sold in the market including in eBay are not come with the rubber cover. I was very lucky that I found a pair of brand new original BMW Hella HID ballasts with rubber cover in eBay last year and I bought them at around US$250 for one pair. So if you are going to do the retrofit, you may have to keep searching in eBay for the ballasts, or you may pay about US$900 for one pair at BMW. The rubber cover is very important, since it can keep moisture or condensation away from the HID bulb housing for potential burn out.
