DEFINITELY GET IT. I bought a certified pre-owned BMW and immediately had to have the "brain" repaired/replaced. That was $1500 that I didn't have to spend. Then I had some problems with the windows and finally my transmission FAILED. It actually failed at 102K and BMW paid 50% of the cost. If I didn't have that warranty the cost to get a new transmission is $6,000. In fact, I'd get the warranty and then at 99,000 miles try and get the tranny to fail so they would have to put a new on in for free. Can you tell that it pissed me off? Anyway, you really need to get that warranty.

just so I'm understanding this clearly, after purchasing the CPO & extended warranty, are you saying the coverage will be 6yr/100,000 miles or 6yr/50,000 miles???
If 6/100k, it's a buy. But realize there are TWO different extended warrantys BMW offers. one is service, one is maintenance. I bought both for my new 2006 for ~$4000. Make sure you understand what they are offering and covering!

Unless you have the shop space, tools, know-how and time to do all possible work yourself, you should be getting a warranty.

I am very happy with them. I paid $2,100 and I have 48 months or 48,000 miles. I have the Platinum full coverage plan. It has almost paid for itself already. |

Well, i would also say GO FOR IT. It is definitely worth it. The X5s have known problems with tranny ets. You never know. Mine failed at 65K miles. It's better to be covered. I would suggest to buy extended maintenance warranty too and then you can drive your X5 with peace for another two years.
