Buying another X5: 2004 4.4

The price will be around $35-36K with an extended warranty of 3/years 36,000 miles. It has 54k miles.

Here are pictures:

so what do you think? I think it has every option, but I am not sure. I would really like a pano roof and HIDs. Can you tell by looking at the pics?

I am keeping the 2001 X5 3.0 with 102,000 miles.

Other choices were:
2006 ML350
XC90
brand-new RDX all options
new (used) MDX

It doesn't have PDC, and may or may not have heated rear seats or rear side airbags. You have to turn on the headlights to tell if they're xenons, since all 2004+ X5s use projector low beams. It also does not have the adjustable ride height, I don't know about self-levelling rear suspension, the premium DSP sound system, or the retractable cargo floor.

Personally I wouldn't want a X5 with the sat nav because nobody listens to cassettes. Plus, I've heard it's pretty slow on the uptake.

if that is an extended CARMAX warranty, pass on it (at least the warranty) as it is not a CPO warranty.

i think it has most of the options

premium - yes
sport - yes
cold weather -yes
rear climate - yes

doesn't have: heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, adjustable ride hieght, PDC, 19" wheels, rear side airbags, and unsure about DSP and load floor.

i like it, but i think you find something slightly more complete...
i would consider it

The CarMax X5 is a sports package. The window moldings are black.

The CarMax warranty is 3rd party warranty sold through AON, no different than a warranty purchased through any used car dealer, a credit union, or online on the internet. IMHO 3rd party warranties are never as good as a CPO warranty. On any major repair, such as a failed engine or transmission, expect to go to battle with the insurance company that has underwritten your warranty. There are alot of pros and cons in regards to 3rd party warranties - most of them not in your favor.

Personally, I'd go CPO. BMWNA is offering 4.99%/60 month rate on 2004 CPO models. And if you are a BMWCCA member, you get $500 rebate on your CPO purchase.

If you're not going to go the CPO route, you're better off going private party and finding a better deal. If you really need a warranty, get one online. With some judicious shopping, you should be able to get to a lower net cost than what is offered by CarMax.

My personal recommendation is to go the BMW website and search for CPO X5's in your area. X5 sales are soft, especially with the V8's. See how far you can budge the dealer by starting with an offer $4000 below the advertised price. You might be surprised.

if it has cold weather, it has the heated steering wheel.

the xc90's handle like poo. They roll like no tommorow there isnt many 4x4's that handle like the x5 so keep that in mind to. With the nav, why would you pick the non nav system over the nav system?? are you mental??
