Your engine was probably bogging because you were drawing in water into the cylinders. If the engine is not already damaged, I'd remove the plugs to let things dry out.

I'm glad you and the X made it through, but like others have suggested I would get the X checked out.

I will have to check all these necessary precautions. Thanks for your advice.

I let the car sit for 24hrs. before driving it and it seems fine. I will check all fluids and suspensioncomponents asap. I hope she makes it....

If there was meaningful water in the cylinders then the motor is already popped. You'd know. My speculation on the bogging is slippage in the gearbox, but I don't really know how that works with an automatic.

The gearbox is a sealed system. Plus, if there was slippage, it would be the opposite of bogging.. free'er-revving. The motor was bogging because the air inlets were being blocked by water. Time will tell if/how-much water got in.

I disagree. While the air intake may have been restricted, the bogging down was most likely due to pushing a bow wave, it takes more power than rolling freely.

If any water did make it into the engine, you would experience a hydraulic lock, and it would stop. As RamVA said, it would be a done deal. If the engine ran afterwards, without any strange noises, it is fine. No need to take the plugs out, there is nothing to dry out.

If you X is equipped with onboard monitor navigation system, then your video module and radio module may be gone. Check it. By the way, 2 feet deep water is about 610 mm, it is not deep enough to damage the engine but some electronic system. Officially, it is said that X is ok for 500 mm deep water in user manual.

About one year earlier, I drove my X to China for offroad and I passed a river that is about 600mm deep, after that, my video module and radio module were dead. Nothing else were damaged.

What he said - if water gets in the cylinders it will hydro-lock and the motor stops dead, usually with some bent con-rods.
