How many Km's do you have? Could be that your motor mounts are worn. Try someones X5 to see if they are the same. the motor mounts are designed to move the engine a little just open the hood and tell someone to rev the engine and youll see it move.

Is it running right? It could just be rough idle and it needs a tune up. Alternatively my x5 idled like poop when the ICV went out. That caused symptoms similar to those you describe.

no, no light

hi,

No, there is no light. What is an ICV? Also, I just changed the oil, spark plugs and air filter around 500km ago.

Though, once th engine warms up, the shaking goes away.

icv is idle control valve. double check you air filter install because it may be taking in too much air? does it run strong? might be only running on 5 or 4 cylinders?

engine is smooth

No, the air filter was installed 500km ago and it didn't do this issue. The engine runs really smooth after 2 minutes of running. Besides. wouldn't the check engine light go on if it was running on 4-5 cylinders?

The car has 64000 km.

So you are saying that it idles rough at first when cold, noticably enough that the engine wobbles in the bay, but after it warms up it is smooth and it does not shake, as you describe?

And no, if it was running badly on one or two or even all cylinders, usually until the point of failure, you will get not check engine light.

Lo_jack is right, sometimes there will be no cade at all? But I think your motor internals are fine. When it shakes does it wobble the whole car? Can you hear a miss in the engine? Do you drive in really dusty environment? after idling for two minutes it clears up even if you havent drove it? Lets try and pin point where the problem is exactly coming from.

Check the O2 sensor -- had a similar problem on my 3 series a few years back.
