Help! Steering gear problem!

Hi all! Here is the situation:

Last week, I put my X to BMW service center to replace the cylinder head gaskets, dustcover of left tie rod and rubber bushing of both upper control arm (tention struts). After I got back my X, I found that there was some noise when I turning steering wheel (both sides) during driving. So I put my X back to BMW service center again for inspection yesterday. Today, the service advisor called me and told me that the noise was come from the steering gear and the whole steering gear needed to be replaced. WTF!? I immediately made complaint that the steering gear had been working fine without any problem before I put my X to them for repair, how come such serious problem happen after the repair. It just does not make any sense!

Experts here please give me some advise, is it possible that such problem happens suddenly? Is it possible that the dealer did something wrong during the repair that resulted in such serious problem or it is just bullshit by dealer? What should I do to this? Anyone here has the same experience? please give me some advise!!! Thanks for help!!!
