steptronic break?

I'm very interested in reprogramming the electronic chip in my 3.0d 184HP to get the 218HP but my BMW dealer tell me that everyone who make it, after 40.000Km. break the steptronic because it doesn't support more torque.
At this point, I would ask you: Is there anyone who break it? And if the old version of 4.6is has 48Kgm. torque, is it risky after 40.000Km?

that is nonense. I know there is at least one person on here with a chipped 3.0d without problems. However, if you are still under warranty, the chip might have some implications.

A question you may want to ask is... "is the steptronic in the 3.0d different than the one in the much higher horse power models?"... I'm guessing it's the same for all models of the same year, but I don't know for sure. If this is the case, then I certainly agree with vinuneuro. Perhaps someone on the board knows definitively...
