Any top tier Fully Syn will be fine ...castrol, mobil etc. FWIW I always use mobil 1 fully syn. 5w30
And if you do a search on here you will find many posts with much arm wrestling and teeth gnashing about the 'best' oil to use....happy reading |

AFAIK BMW UK recommend BMW LL01 (longlife) approved lube.
I use Mobil 1 0w40 fully synthetic which is BMW LL01 approved. Spec here http://www.opieoils.co.uk/performanc...01%200w-40.pdf

Doesn't anyone read the owner's manual?

I like Mobil1 so use 0-40w only (this is the only one certified as LL-01, long life). BTW, in the US, Mobil-1 0-40w has silver botle/silver label and it says for "european vehicles" in the front. |

Here is more information than you ever wanted/needed on oil - probably one of the best sources for oil info on the 'net

US Castrol Syntec 5w30 is not LL01. The German Castrol Syntec 0w30 and Mobil 1 0w40 are. I just use the BMW full synthetic 5w30. It’s not that expensive compared to the others.
