ok anoher question re 4.6is 2002 NAV and 4.8is

I'm being offered the chance to swap the DVD nav and radio module out of a 4.8is into my 4.6is. Will this work? Anything to watch for?

Thanks!

The nav drive swap is a 10 minute job. Just be sure that the nav drives are completely inactive before disconnecting the cables off the back (especially your MkIII in the 4.6is). There should be no lights or activity on them. It's good to open up the back and have everything ready to disconnect and then wait about 15 minutes for the i-bus to go to sleep and then disconnect it.

The radio module is a bit more involved only because you have to access it down in the spare tire compartment. It will probably take you about a half an hour to do that (I could do it in 5, but I've done it quite a few times).

As for losing features, obviously the nav drive will be much slower when you put the MkIII into the 4.8is and it will use regional CD's rather then a national DVD. On the radio module swap, the 2002 radio module won't support AUX input or Sirius.

i think it'll lose the factory installed Sirius Software used for Satellite Radio.
outside of that, the others will have to chime in.

yeah that's why I want to swap the radio module, so I can do sirius. As long as the 4.8is radio system will work fine, and the nav system will work fine I'll do it. I don't want this guy to get in trouble...
