It is due to the air pressure. You close the driver's door, and air pushes the tailgate up, then the pressure dissipates and the tailgate falls back, engaging the lock. Yes, annoying, but understandable considering the otherwise very desirable airtight nature of the vehicle.

just unlock all the doors before you get out and just open the tailgate from the outside via the button where the license plate is.
