well, no harm trying the next time you go a long drive, would it? at least this may indicate whether it could be due to evaporator freezing before you get your hands on the fsr. cheers

Don't know an A/C yet, but even with the heater on, Rear fan has very high sound and no air is coming in. when off it stops eventually... I think this is rear vent problem only, have to get it checked.

If you open the center console and pop the storage bin out you can make sure the duct to the rear vents is still attached properly. The bin is tight at first, but does just snap out straight up. Once you are looking in there with the bin out it is pretty straight forward to figure out.

I see, I will take it to indy and tell him to do exact same thing. Since I don't have any tools or anything like that. labor work over here is Pretty cheap anyway. Thanks.
Also couple of fan fingers (or whatever It's called) are broken... So many things are broken on this car, Just can't wait to get it ALL fixed so I can drive freely.

I would take the vehicle to an A/C speciality shop. Reason being, yes the equipment today allows anybody to charge the a/c. However, understanding what the gages are telling you, a lot of today's tech's don't understand.

Sound like your evaporator is freezing up due to an undercharged system or possibly an expansion valve is sticking towards the closed side. After recharging the system a performance test can be performed to determine the cause.

how does an undercharged system cause the evaporator to freeze up? i thought it will cause the sys to lose its cooling ability?

Same problem here.... air con works fine and cool from Engine start.... Fans slows down after about 15 mins, turning the fan manually does speed up the fan but not the actual cold air flow... turn on the front window defog button OR turn off the A/C button for a short a while (1-2 mins), then press the AUTO button it will work fine again. But only for another 10-15 mins and the problem returns.

Fan has been replaced a couple of month during the previous maintenance, I've also just replace the FSR/FSU.

I'm also interested to know what can be done next before I take it to the shop again. Temp sensor? Where is it located?

I normally switch OFF the air recirculation, does this contribute to the problem?

Simon, yours sounds like it is freezing up. I'd get a thermometer to stick in the vents when running it to see if it is getting too cold. It shouldn't really blow colder than about 36 degrees. That can be caused by having a hair too low refrigerant causing the low side pressure to be pulled too low. And I usually leave the recirc on auto, let it decide when it needs to be on inside air vs outside air. (unless I'm driving by something that stinks that is)

So this shouldn't cost a bomb if I take it to the shop? I was hoping try to DIY first, but doesn't look like my work schedule permits. So I don't mind taking it to the shop if it doesn't cost a lot. Especially if it's got to do with low refrigerant since it was only filled up a few weeks ago.

I just tried this morning with the recirculation... but it didn't help much for my case.
