Wheels Stolen

Need Help, Wheels of my 05 4.8is were stolen last night (All 4), and I now need suggestions on how to go about it, I have the police case and the insurance claim;'s in allready and now am being told to buy some wheels save the receipts and drive in to an estimator to check for suspension damages, Do you think i should just go with the dealer or buy set of wheels/tires from third party install and then go to estimator....I am sooo pissed, also anyone around Stamford CT please chime in.

Wish I could offer good advice but I'm sorry to hear the bad news. If you had factory wheels, I would think the best thing is to get some from the dealers but then again insurance probably won't reimburse you for new wheels - as your wheels were not new.

Hopefully someone with similar experience or is from the industry will chime in soon.

Again sorry to hear and Good luck!

Thanks guys, I dont really know the style, i know they were
Front - 275/40ZR20
Rear - 315/35ZR20
This is a 2005 model, also since there is no way of towing it, should I just buy the wheels and try to do it myself, buy wheels/Tires and install myself

Well, who is it that's saying to buy the wheels first then go to the estimator? If its the insurance company, clarify if you should go to the dealer and that they will reimburse fully for NEW wheels.

Style 168 is stock for all 2004-2006 4.8is.

Goes without saying to DOCUMENT all conversations - names, time, phone numbers, etc. Because you don't want to give anyone any excuses, if something should go awry with your claim.

Also, please don't tell us that those bastards didn't even bother leaving it on blocks. Is that why you have to see the estimator for suspension damage!?

insane. did they manage to damage the frame, or anything under when they lifted the car? I doubt they did a clean job.
is the car on some logs lifted from the ground? hard to mount the new wheels if it stays straight on the ground

thanks guys, yes i did get the names and stuff and thanks to you (twinspoppa) i called them back and now they changed their story and am waiting for an estimator before doing anything, they did leave it on plastic crates however i do see the passenger side rear wheelwell bend and am scared about suspension damages since it is sitting on the brake disks, delarships estimate is 4.5K for all 4 wheels and tires, i think am going to look around for something cheaper.

Sorry guy !.......Wheels would be Style 168 ( some call them LA style ). Good used original wheels are very difficult to come by, especially if they were chromed. There are some reproductions out there but unsure of quality. If you can " convince " the Insurance company to pop for new BMW wheels thats the way to go !
