I don't know about newer BMWs, but my '02 X5 doesn't have locking wheel nuts.

However, that's a good suggestion for the OP once he gets his replacement wheels.

Don't touch your vehicle until the adjuster does his work.
Take plenty of pictures the same day the adjuster does.
Print those pictures and add them to the file you already have.

The car is in an underground parking so i will have to install the wheels/tires once i get them any tips on how to go about it to make sure it's good, I plan on taking it to the dealer once done

Wow sorryto hear that. What a brutal bunch of dbags that did that.
I would say don't do anything until your adjuster takes a look and really push to get direct replacement of oem BMW wheels you had before as well as tires. Even if you have to put some money towards it since they weren't new by insurance terms. Good luck though hope it's hassel free BMW replacement

Update : I was able to get them to pay for the OEM wheels and Tires (estimate) now since the car is on crates and the disc's touch the ground I need suggestions on whether i should just buy the wheel and tires of my choice and install them or call a body shop and get them to do it, the adjuster seemed very reluctant to get this done by BMW dealer also anyone know of any good body shops in the Stamford, CT area?

So was there any damage or not? If not and you are going to the dealer to have the tire and wheel work done, ask the dealer to "lend" you 4 donuts, put them on and drive it to the stealer. If you take intend for an indy to do the work, ask him how he intends to get your X to the shop so he can sell and install new tires and wheels. He will find a way to get it to his shop, undamaged, so he can make the sale. Or, you can do the same with the stealership.

Hi Dragoncoach - Except for the wheel flare and the rocker moulding, I do not see any visual damage, the car is still sitting on crates I have not bought the wheels/tires yet, I am calling local indy/body shops, the dealership wants me to get it towed and the towing company will have the spare wheels however Insurance company was very reluctant to get work done at the dealership.
At this point i am not aware of any suspension or brake damage and will have to install the wheels to check it, my question being should i buy then new wheels/tires install it and frive it to indy/dealer or let the, come over and do it.(might be charged extra)

Thats vary sad i hope you get those dbags somehow.

the only thing i don't understand why didn't your alarm go off????? may be your car was unlocked?

i was painting my calipers the other day and my x was parked on my driveway after a good wash, i had to go and buy beak cleaner to clean calipers before i start working on it and i locked my x took my 430 for spin i came back and start jacking up the x to remove the wheel and my alarm went off (VHCsensors).

Just thinking about this a little more...I can suggest 2 other alternatives. #1 is to just buy the wheels and tires out right from whomever and have them throw in the installation at your location. If they won't try elsewhere, provided they aren't too far away. #2 is for the insurance company pay for the transportation to wherever you chose. After all, if they stole your tranny or motor, they would still have to pay to get it to the repair shop. Or....buy them mounted and balanced, get a friend with a floor jack to help you and install them yourself (it may cost you a six pack) I just don't think it's a good idea to leave your car too long without wheels...other items may "walk away" as well.

Sorry for the loss and headache as I can imagine. From personal experience it might have worked out better to have the vehicle inspected at the dealer or local rim shop. This would have addressed a few things all at the same time.

1. Vehicle towing would be part of the claim. If you insisted having the adjuster
inspect the vehicle at the facility, they would need to tow it there in order to
check it out.
2. While inspecting the vehicle at the facility, if there were any additional damages
(brakes, suspension, ect) it can be backed up by the experts at the facility and
added to the claim right there on the spot.
3. Any repairs (if needed) and rim installation would be done at the shop or dealer
with no worries on how to get the vehicle to shop or driving around with any
damage trying to get to the facility..

If the claim is still open you still might be able to pursue this. Best to proceed before they actually cut a check if you do.

Best luck to you.
