Angry ? about built in telephone lights

I need an education in regards to the built in telephone. I have an 04 with assist. I do not currently have the phone set up. The red light has been coming on at an ever increasing rate and stays on for the duration of that trip. I have taken the vehicle in to the dealer and basically gotten the run arround. The service manager has pointed out a bulletin that says that when the light is on the vehicle is out of the cell service area and that this is normal. I tend to disagree because the light remains on regardless of how far and where I drive ie Las Vegas to San Diego. The light even was on when I left the dealer and remained on all the way home.

I would like to know if you guys think this may be a receiving problem with the vehicle? I may want to install the phone in the future as well as utilize the assist function. I have heard from some of you that the telephone module may be failing. The service manager at Harloff BMW San Diego even told me that the regional rep had taken a look at the vehicle. I know this was a lie since the vehicle had been at the dealership prior to the reps visit, but had to be picked up due to my travel schedule a day earlier.

How can I contact higher ups at BMW NA?

The lights explained

Red light on constant means no phone is connected.
Red light flashing means phone is connected but no network coverage.
Amber light means your phone is roaming on another network.
Green light means call is active.
Hope this is what you were looking for.
mark.

Question for you. When the red light is on are you able to reach Assist? If no then you are not getting a signal (I believe it uses the Verizon CDMA network) and thus the red light should be on. If yes then something isn't working right in your vehicle.

Mark,
I don't think red light on means no phone connected. In that case my red light would never go out, but it is out 60% of the time.
