Sun Shade Net at Rear Door Panel for X5 (E53)
I have found that there is an accessory --- Shade Net at Rear Door Panel which I'm interested to install in my X5 (year 2002), pls find attached the pics. However, it is a standard equipment for US market in 2004+, but a option for EU market. Unfortunately, it seems like there are nobody carry this item in the aftermarket. Pls see if you can suggest any suppliers I can buy from them through internet. Thks |

This is an OEM or dealer only fit option in the UK and I was told is quite a lot of work to get right if doing it yourself, hence me getting it when I ordered the car. You may need new interior door trims too unless you can cut the existing ones to take the window blind unit and will also need new trims for the smaller window blind retractor to be mounted in.
Try looking here for the part numbers: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do There is also this article for fitting the shades into the rear and rear quarter windows too: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/i...es-bmw-x5.html

I would think it unlikely anyone else would make these as they retract into the door panels/window divider - hence the need for the door panels too. The after market probably is not big enough for these to be put into production anywhere else than by BMW.
Good luck looking though.

It is a dealer only option and unless you have it from new it would work out quite expensive to retro fit. You will need the blinds, new door panels, window surrounds and a few other smaller bits. I have the blinds on my X plus have the rear hatch/boot blinds also and rear window.
The only other option is to source a damaged X5 from a breakers/dismantlers yard that have the rear blinds and purchase all the items. Its actually quite easy to fit, its just the cost on getting what you need. I had an e39 540 a long time back and always wanted the blinds so I researched it quite a bit and just by luck I found a damaged one at a dismantlers yard and got all the items I needed. So unless you purchase all the required bits it wont work. Hope thats been of some help!!
