Increase in 3MPG? Unlikely... its probably a combination of driving conservative and the better filter.

Now an increase of 1-2 mpg is possible. I got prob +1mpg increase with an AFE intake on my 330i ZHP and that was a six not a V8 like my 4.4i.

I am afraid to put an intake on the X5 as the added agressive noise of an intake will cause me to 'gun' it more and hence less mpg. If I do, I will suck up the pain and drive the way I usually do to note the gain on the first tank...

Afe is the brand. As I drove more my mpg went back down to 15.6. still better than the 14.2 i was getting before with a k&n filter. I love the way it sounds...it's not too much but it compliments my x pipe. def worth it for a 4.4

If I install a CAI in my E53 X5 3.0d euro, will I get similar results as a 3.0i ?

How much did you get the CAI from AFE ?

okay, no expert in this area but on highway, i gain 2 from 21 to 23 MPG, or perhaps it's just me. I have 4.4i. And yes just like TheNorv, the roar sound is just great!

I've been getting 24.6 MPG hwy on my 06 3.0 man trans with the cold air intake. I put it on as soon as I got the X so I can't give an idea of improvement. I also removed the resonator & don't know if that helped other than eliminating about 15 pounds. I run a much taller tire too and adjust for the fewer miles driven in the calculations. Of course now that it's winter I won't get that mileage. Supposed to be below zero tonight with 35 below wind chill so I'll be in front of the fire tonight!

I get 18 MPG on my 05 4.4 and I have the AFE intake. I drive a lot of city and go pretty hard on the gas.

I am a new member and I have a 2001 4.4 with sport package. At best I get 12.9 MPG. I read where other members are getting 15 MPG and above . What's the secret?

I can only imagine you are only doing city driving with lots of traffic and stops. Try a long drive on a highway after you have reset your milage computer and you should see 20+ MPG.
