mfiver is on a distinguished road
2003 X5 vs. revised 2004 X5

So here is wha I know so far; in 2004 the X5 4.4i got a revised fascia, got an 25 additional hp, x-drive, a 6-speed transmission and a much higher EPA highway rating (14/18 vs. 16/22 for the new model)

What I don't know - Are these changes for better or worse?

* Is the x-drive an improvement over the old system? Did reliability go up or down?

* Is the new 6-speed tranny more reliable than the older beleaguered 5HP24?

* Are the mileage gains real world?

* Any seat of the pants different between the two?

* Anything else to consider?

Thanks to all!
