tight steering wheel

I' lucky new friver of the X (about 2.5 months) and feel that my wheel is so thight I've cheked the atf in the steering pump and it looks and smells like new... so what can be wrong ? dying steering rack ?

Mine's tight as well...that's the x5's steering you need to get used to!

hmm, but I compare with E53 3.0 2001... The wheel is much "lighter"...

have you checked your tire pressure?

low pressure will give a lot of resistance. just a thought.

Yup, I drove a non SP and compared it to my SP, both had the hard steering.

The 3.0i if non-sport have narrower tires (235/60R17) than your 4.4i (255/55R18), thus the "lighter" feel on the 3.0i.

have you tried driving a e36? now thats tight steering wheel... i feel like my 4.4 is actually too soft, i perferred the e36 tight steering wheel. If i remember correctly, does the e53 have like an active steering, where if your driving slow is really soft steering, and at high speed its tight?
