What do these nuts do ?

Hi Guys,

I'm experiencing some problems with the self-leveling rear suspension on my '03 plate. I noticed it was leaning to the left when parked and have had suggestions that an airbag may be leaking.

Intermittantly I get the SELFLEVEL SUSP.INACT message on the dash and there is a hissing sound when I leave the car.

Question 1
When I was fitting the TV in Motion cable, I inadvertantly turned the 10mm silver nuts at the top of the pump - not knowing what it was at the time, and trying to gain access to the TV tuner beneath. When I realised that these had nothing to do with getting to the suff underneath I had already kind of loosened them.

When I try to tighten them up they just turn. They're not loose but not tight either. Do you think this could be the cause of the problem. It only really started then.

Question 2.
If it is the airbag. Does anyone have experience of how much labour I should expect to pay to replace it. I have been quoted £125 for the bag. I was thinking of sourcing a used one - what do you reckon? Worth the risk. I guess they cant be repaired. I have been told that this is the same sort of job in terms of labour as changing a shock. So what would that take? " Hours?

Thanks in advance for your usual helpful replies.

Kev.

Mate, since my wife gave birth to our daughter six months ago, you're probably bang on there - I have forgotten !!!!

Nah, I vaguely remember what those ones do - just dunno if I've mucked up my suspension myself or if it packed up on its own...

Cheers - Kev.

I not really sure if the nuts have anything to do with it. I had the same problem with my "X" . It was not the bag that went bad but instead the sensor just needed to be reset. Do you have any kind of warrenty?
