Talking Hi everyone - My first post and an exhaust mod questions

Hi everyone,
have been reading this forum while I was deciding on a used x5 (e53).

I finally pulled the trigger on a 2005 X5 3.0i last week (premium, sport, xenons, park). Liking the way it looks and absoutely loving the way it drives!

When I originally test drove it, I absolutely fell in love with it and started to research a bit and got to this site. What a great site with wealth of information. After I got the car, this site already helped me to reprogramme my spare key!

Unfortunately, after 24 hours of ownership, I was rear ended by a drunk driver. The drunk driver pushed another car into my back end. The damage was not too bad (did not get to my frame or anything), but took away a bit from my new to me car experience.

Now that I have my car at the body shop, I need to get my exhaust replaced. I was thinking about paying the difference and getting the BMW sport exhaust (from the 2005 accessory catalog). Has anyone had any experience with this exhaust system? I don't want anything radical like a Eisenmann race set-up, but I thought it would be a nice touch to my X5 with a sport package. Are these exhaust a waste of money? I understand that the performance gain is minimal with any exhaust, so I am not looking for that, but I figured it might make the X5 sound a little bit better. I did a search and read a lot on the various aftermarket exhaust systems, but nothing came up on the sport silencer set up from the BMW catalog.

Thanks in advance

Sorry about your troubles but congrats on the new ride. I agree with jayjay, adding 4.6 tips would be a good way to go for aesthetics. Also, one of our Premier members is selling his 4.6 exhaust. Check it out: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-items...wer-price.html

Welcome to the 'hood.

Hi, I live in the city - where sales tax is 9%, and public transportation is falling apart....

Thanks for your inputs guys. Actually, I was looking at the used 4.6is exhaust system couple of days ago. I sort of liked the black tips that were on the car (3.0 sport), but the large oval tips are nice too. I think the parts are going to be ordered on Thursday, so I need to make up my mind soon.

:xoutpost:

If you go with the 4.6is tips, they'll look even better with 20" rims!
Here are a few more pics if you still need some convincing...

But beware of the "mod bug", JunBug!

If I was to pick one wheel for my X5, it will be the style 87 20"s.
Those are really nice looking! I usually catch the mod bug with any car that I own. I really wanted to not spend too much on mods on the X5, but I am already formulating ideas in my mind..... dangerous...

Hello JayJay04x5,

How much work is it to change over from the 3.0 Tips to the 4.6 tips?

Would the 4.4 tips also work?

Thank you

Jim
