X5 US vs. European settings

Guys,

I got my 2002 X5 3.0 on ebay and had it transported accross the ocean all the way from Dallas, TX to Baku, Azerbaijan (it is one of the ex USSR republics on Caspian Sea).

I figured out how to change the temperature setting from F to C pretty easy -was in the manual. However, the bigger problem is to change the FM radio station locations: e.g. if I want 102 FM, it would stop scanning on 102.1 skipping 102. Does anyone know how to resolve this, please?

Another thing I would like to change is Miles to KM and MPG to L/100km.

Many thanks for your valuable thoughts

can not resolve it... you need a new radio. When I took delivery of my first BMW (German Delivery) they changed the radio when it arrived in the U.S.

Hi Hike737
I would disagree with somewhere - the radio steps are sowftware programmable. I have Nav - so changing from Miles to Km is very easy on setup screen.

You will have to get the radio coded to reflect the area.

Hows Baku these days - The fountain area still frequented by those girls Loved it...

Wink Here Is The Fix For Your Problem

Hi my Azerbayjanian friend

I shipped my X5 from US to Turkey and had the same problem with the radio stations. But it is easy to fix it.

Turn your radio on. Push and hold about 10 secs to the "m" button between the radio scanning buttons until you see system menu. Whenever you see the system menu browse throgh the menu and find the country option.

Yours should be in "US" option. Change it to "EUR" and then turn your radio off then on. You are ready to go. US radio station are all odd numbers. But Europen stations are both even and odd.

Dear tashfirin,

It did work! Thanks for your advice. The BMW service center told me to change the radio module that would cost me $1000. Amazing.

NITIN, Baku is fine - it's got a bit cooler which is nice. My office is on the Fountain square and yes, girls are the major distracting factor.

Hi there,

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I've also got a 2002 BMW X5 and can't seem to find this "m" button which would allow me to get into the system menu? Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,

David

Hey vid,
Take a look at this pic, the 'm' button is on the left hand side of the radio unit. Good luck
