fuses

I had that same issue on my 02 4.6is. It was simply a blown fuse in the trunk. I think it was a green one, something like 50 cents locally.

Red face Self Levelling Suspension

I have a 2001, X5 3.0D and it started showing a message that SelfLevel Susp Inact. Now my X5 has dropped, the dealer asked me to take it in but I am afraid because the dealer is 400 km away. Can I still drive it for that distance? What can really be the possible cause for this problem?

YOU HAVE TO SCAN THE EHC MODULE AND SEE WHAT THE FAULTS ARE.

I'm sorry i seem perturbed but we get tons of these threads each month, there is no way to diagnose SELF LEVEL SUSP INACT on the dash without reading the faults in the module and doing some troubleshooting.

I assume the bags aren't leaking air, check linkages for rust or binding on the articulating arm, and then scan the module with DIS/GT1

Check the rear links. They may have flipped to the wrong side. The arms on the sensors should be angled toward the outside of the your X. If that is the problem, once it is corrected and you drive a short distance the warning should go away. Whenever you jack up the rear that can happen, especially if you drop it quickly. Always check them after it is on the ground as they may be toward the outside in the air and still flip back when you lower the jack.

Dropped on both sides or just one?

if your sides are sagging overnight your bags are blown most likely

It's not really dropping overnight, it started 2 or 3 month ago. Toady I made an appointment with the dealer in Windhoek, Namibia for tomorrow, I just hope the bags are not blown. The prices in my country is a real killer, it made me already wonder how much I could pay for the new bags. Limited BMW dealers is also one problem here, but I really love my Beema.

Will let you know the results when I am back from the dealer.

Thanks again for your support.

It took 2-3 months for it to drop to where it is?
