Hello All

I joined a few days ago to assist in my search for a 2004 4.4.

Couldn't find one for a price I thought was fair, so I ended up with a 2006 Sport.

Thanks to all the postings here, I was able to get a lot of good information that helped me.

So, now comes the challenges. Here are a couple questions for the veterans...

(1) I know many people probably love the 'new car smell'. So much so that many secondary market dealers probably "spray it in". After 3 hours driving though, I noticed that it gives me a headache. Any ideals (other than leaving the vehicle open all the time) as to how to get rid of it - or lessen it? I would have thought that by 2 years, the smell would be almost gone.

(2) The tires on the vehicle are shot - they are Michelins and they are god-awlful loud. (I have to admit that I have never liked the brand - they always seemed overpriced and over-rated.) Will a new set be much quieter? Or is there a better tire for the car that is smooth and quiet. I value a tire that is quiet and sheds water extremely well. Performace is far secondary for me.

Thanks again.

and Welcome to the World.

Sorry the new car smell is giving you a headache. I'm thinking it's either a leather conditioner or a spray, not the original smell. Try airing it out, or febreze maybe.

There is plenty of info here on tires. Plenty of opinions too. It depends what your needs and wants are. Will you run the same wheels/tires all year or switch with the seasons? What size tires are you running?

Congrats on your X

Thanks for the reply...

Today I drove another 5 hours with no headache, maybe it was related more to the all day sitting at the car store with no food.

As for the tires,

They are 255/??/19 Fronts and 285/??/19 rears.
I live in the south and although I may make an occasional trip to the North, I only need summer or all-season tires.

I will try another seach for more info.

Thanks again.

My summer tires are the same size. I have the Michelin Diamaris and LOVE them. The handling is great. They hold on curves like I'm glued to the road. I am starting to hear them now with about 18K miles. Others like the Advans. Like I said, everyone has opinions. Do a search and your head will spin with all the opinions. Good luck.
