This is a good price? God they just soak us for a piece of plastic and $25 filter for some sound and 3 HP when you say BMW don't they. Mod partners are like rapists in my opinion in most cases.

EVOSport Advanced Flow Engineering, Inc

X5 4.4L AFE - Cold-Air Intake Kit - E53 X5 4.4L - 54-10681 - [AFE.PER.B53.IK2] $349.00

I can get a BMW leather M# steering wheel for $325 from a dealer with an overhead but a website B2C company sells plastic molding for $349 .

God love the SEMA, the tuning craze and its spirit of free enterprise!?!

This one's a 'best offer' on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aFe-M...spagenameZWDVW

It's all about how you want to spend your $$$, bro. On the 4.4, it ain't gonna really supply you with good gains in HP, it'll sound good when you open up the throttle (IF your X5 has a throttle ), and it'll look good when you open the hood. You want REAL power gains in the X, look to reducing the weight of the thing or supercharging, IMHO.

I think getting an intake without an software could damage your engine because it could run to lean without an software.. I had a e46 m3 and after I installed a new K&N intake i noticed that the car was running to lean and the I get better gas mileage which shows that im running lean..

hmmm I do not see that on a X5. Could be wrong, but I do not see the MAF not being able to compensate for, what I believe is just a lil more air getting into the engine. I would disconnect the battery and then take if for a spin of 50 miles and let the computer relearn. The pcm should be able to add enough fuel to compensate for the small increase in airflow.

haha.. that's gotta be the funnier post I've seen in awhile.. you seriously think your MAF is not able to handle that small of a change??

you need to backup your claim and run it on a dyno and get your exact a/f ratio... and a simple K&N will not do much.. just because u get better gas mileage doesn't mean you're running lean... stock software tends to run a little rich.

that didn't prove anything at all. Show me a dyno with A/F without software to show me that you were running lean..

BTW.. let me find my dyno chart that I did at dynospot for my E46 M3.. at Max HP, my A/F with Eisenmann midpipe and race and homemade intake with K&N was right at about 13.9/1.

On my E39 M5, I didn't start running lean until my supersprint headers.. and that's with Tubi, SS race cats, AA CAI, and IATS.
