Cleaners?

Are there any hooks in the X5 for hanging your clothes from the cleaners?

Check ebay, I think BMW makes something to hang on the back of the seat for you to attach clothes too.....

don't know if this is on all e53 X5s, but on mine, there is a plastic piece near the hand grip that has a hole in it. if you put your finger in the hole (no pun intended), it slides open revealing a bigger hole where you can hang your dry cleaning. you slide the piece back and it keeps the hangers from falling off. at least i think that's what that plastic is supposed to be used for.

I think you are talking about the attachment point for the rear cargo net when you have the seats folded down.

I thought I'd seen a proper one somewhere.

I think we're talking about the same thing here!

My X5 (just purchased) is currently in a rail carriage coming from the other side of the country so I cant check it ATM.

From what I can remember the factory cargo net can go in two locations and has two stages. Firstly in its most common position behind the rear seats and half unrolled. Secondly, fixing behind the front row seats (pole goes through the hole in the cover described earlier) and the rear seats (folded forward) have clips on the back of the rear seats to fix the bottom of the fully unrolled net.
