breytonx5, I know you said that the adjustable ride height would still be in effect but that the X would sit 80mm lower at each setting but I'm still a bit confused as to what is contributed to what.

The description of this eJack Module on EAS's website states:
For BMWs with auto-leveling we offer exclusively this module to you. They have the possibility over the multi-function steering wheel the car over a range of approximately to lift/lower 80mm.

Models Supported:

1998-2003 e39 5-series, including M5
2000-2006 e53 X5

Now I saw you said that you had your dealership program your X to be lowered and now you are going to install this module as well. I just need some clarification. Are you lowered more than factory height at each setting because of the dealerships program? It sounds like from the description that this eJack Module from EAS simply performs the same function as the factory ride height control buttons but it is designed to allows you to do this via the steering wheel buttons. And possibly from looking at the picture, shows the status of the ride height on the MID. Now I simply did a copy and paste of the eJack Module description from the EAS website and I know it seems like the words may have gotten a little mixed up but it does say something about lower/lift a range of 80mm. However it doesn't say anything about additional range. I have never measured it but I bet my stock range is aproximately 80mm too.

Bottom line is that I'm looking to get this EAS module too but the description is not clear and although it would be cool to have, I don't want it if all it does is bring the factory ride height controls to the steering wheel. Please let us know how your install goes and to clarify what this eJack Module does.

Chusteveb, you made some excellent points. No I've received this module about a week ago and I haven't intalled it yet because like you mentioned, I'm starting to have some reservations about what this product does. I just emailed Tom of EAS and see what he said about this product. I'm afraid you are correct.

Maybe this eJack doesn't give you additional range to the height adjustment rather it gives you more than 3 height settings within this range. So rather than only getting to choose between lowest, middle, and highest height settings as we can now, there are 10, 15, maybe even 20 smaller increment settings? That may prove useful to some but then again, what good is it if after 25mph the setting is over ridden?

I dunno, just thinking out loud.

I don't trust this eJack. Not that it's a bad product, but i've never heard of them before and EAS is the only one who sells it. At least Intrax has a brand history...

I've gotten pretty competent with the factory EHC system and adjusting it.
The dealership uses a GT1 whereas I use an Autologic. Lowering the car simply recalibrates the entire system - you fool the car into thinking it's at the default height. Once wheel size has been input, the computer will set the target height. There are default values (707mm front, 709mm rear) for a 4.8is. These measurements are taken from the bottom lip of the wheel to the edge of the fender. The system tolerances are +/- 10mm; anything less and the computer will not adjust for such a small change.

Example: to lower your X5 25mm (~1inch), you would tell the computer your measurements are 732 & 734mm. The EHC will bring the chassis down 25mm to *what it thinks* is 707 & 709.

There is a working range though, and by going too far you could risk damage or Susp. Level Inactive warning on the dash.

Keep in mind you can raise or lower the suspension using a GT1 or Autologic, eJack is using those same commands. the module was intended for 540i Tourings, but will work on the rear suspension only on the X5.

Rear suspension is adjustable using the steering wheel controls and indicator is seen on the OBC.
