X5 (E53) Tailgte Open Switch

Does anyone happen to know how the X5 decides if the glass tailgate is open or closed? It seems like mine thinks the tailgate is always closed, even when it is open. The boot lights don't work (bulbs are fine), the lower tailgate is disabled, and the dash warning doesn't get activated to tell me that the tailgate is open when driving with it open (just for testing purposes of course). I can't find a switch anywhere for it.
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum...... The days of a pin switch are long gone, I think although I may be wrong it works from the lock.

Thanks for the reply. I figured as much. Ideally I'd find a wiring diagram of the lock so I can prove definitively. There is some evidence via Google of people having the "door open" warning coming on the dash when the tailgate bump stops aren't adjusted right - which kind of contradicts the lock theory.
