Retro Fit Voice Control

I've just got myself my new 2005 X5 4.4 - the dealer screwed up and the voice control isn't fitted......we've done a deal which I'm happy with - but would still like it done - he's saying £1200 (UK) - which is $2k plus - what a joke.....I'm sure I've read this can be done retro - I have 16:9 Bluetooth etc.....

Any clues anyone?

The VR module should be about $500 and is a 10 minute job to install it (assuming your vehicle is wired for it, which it should be since you have Nav).

Everyone says there is a VR module for the 2005 X5 4.4, but so far I''ve gotten no where with the dealers as they say it's not available and others here say it's built in and hold the R/T til you hear a beep. I've tried all and nothing, so something is up with some of the 2005's. Bluetooth works fine otherwise.

I have an 2005 X5 4.4 (March '05 build) with Nav/BT/Assist. It did not come with any VR. I purchased the latest VR module for my model and had the dealer install it. I got the model # from this forum...can't remember it right now. Works FLAWLESSLY. I get all phone and NAV voice functions now. Very helpful...and very good at speech recognition IMO...

Phil47 what is the manufacture month of your car? On the inside door, mine is last November, I think I did that part number but if you have it I'd be gratefule...Two dealers said this year don't have it.

As I mentioned, mine was built in March, 2005. I don't have the invoice in front of me, but I think the part number of the VR module I had installed was
84-41-6-915-049. When I asked my dealer to check into this module, they confirmed (through a VIN check) that it would work with my X5. When it arrived, it was a very simple install and coding by the dealer. No bracket is required, they velcroed it into place somewhere in that rear compartment where the NAV unit sits. I'll see if I can dig up the invoice to confirm the part number.

I think this thread http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...ighlight=voice was the one I got the part number from, and this guy had a model and build month similar to yours...
