Passenger Door Lock Troubles

I have read about the actuators failing and things like that, but this seems a little different. Whenever I press the unlock or lock on the FOB, the door works great. It is when the auto lock at 10mph or the lock/unlock button on the console is where it is inconsistent. Sometimes it locks and sometimes it tries to, then doesn't.
The only reason I am confused is if there is another mechanism to make sure the car lock works when you press the FOB? Is there a quick fix, like some lithium grease or something, or is it indeed the actuator telling me it is failing.
Thanks

Most likely the actuator. Another member of the cheap and crappy OEM parts list.

All the locking features use the actuator. That's the first place to start. Know problem area and cheapest to eliminate.

the guy at the parts desk of my local dealer said that they have taken them apart, cleaned them, and re-lubed them with success. that is of course if the failure is from being gunked up which is usually the case.

i tried to figure out how to get mine apart but couldn't figure it out so i just put in a new one since they were only a hundred bucks. i kept the old one and plan on dissecting it one of these days. i'll take pics if and when i do.
