Here in the UK, Mainly the Manchester area the poice have a few X5 motorway vehicles. Look very nice too, when I drive past them you seem to get a little respect (being in the same vehicle, less the roof mounted lights of course).. In fact now that I think about it there was a documentary on recently featuring the Manchester police and they commented on how they liked to drive the X5 when theyre on duty.

Talking

Dont mind these guys! Just a bunch of stuffy old men who like to use the X5 for going to drop off the recycling or driving the kids to school!!

I suppose you want the lights to flash for car shows and that type thing where it would be an "off road" use??

Why not just go with strobes?? Are you also doing up the stereo system???

well i will install the simplest strobes in the high beam...something that can easily be controlled...i do not have the experience to bring wires through the car and make switches and stuff lol...so something that can be done from the hood itself ahaha....

Anyways i'll keep posting the result when i start with the whole thing

No dis, but just wondering "why" you want alternating lights/strobes?

Is this for parades or flashing car loads of women at the local mall or,
driving around Hinckley, OHTen looking cool or, ...?

I'm one of those "stuffy old men" referred to in above post, though
I don't drive my adult kids to school anymore.

its more like looking cool David...thats about it...nothing really to it...i've always enjoyed strobes on cars...i've been to a couple Audi and VW meets and they really look nice on those cars...even on the E46s ...so i thought why not on an X5

It can't really be confused with a police car guys...here in our area all we see are crown victorias, impalas and my personal favortes the Dodge SRT V10 specially made for law enforcement those things are nice...

Yet you still avoid the question asked of everyone in here, and if "off road", what possible use are alternating flashing headlights, off road?

hmm maybe i worded this the wrong way....i don't need my high beams to flash the way u'd image as (as a police vehicle)....i want something like strobes ...maybe an interval of 5 sec between each flash get it??? and i wanted to see if its posible to make the bulb do that instead of cutting through the headlight and installing the light strobes.....

i am not avoinding any questions...u keep continuing to insinuate that i'd want to imitate police vehicles....when i countinually said that I dont want that...now im not gonna explain myself any longer especially to someone as close minded as u....u can believe w/e u want

If i actually wanted to simulate emergency/police vehicles then i would have installed interior blue/red LEDs to flash....

now please lay off u've been 'helpfull' enough....i don't need trouble

No trouble intended...but, I don't quite understand how one can drive
around Hinckley, OHiYa or, anywhere in metropolitan US areas, with
blinking, flashing, alternating headlights and not draw some serious
cop attention?

Thus, "why ?"...

Just trying to be 'helpfull', (sic)...

Is this like a Parking Lot Meet where all the gang shows up to show off
their "lights/mod" pkg?

I thought your X was still down, based on your rambling thread & pics,
vis a vis the scratched piston and stlr fiasco?
