I used the IceLink Plus, which was the prerunner of the Dice product, on my E53. It worked well, I had very few problems, once it was installed and updated with the latest software.

There are multiple options; the Icelink/Dice, the BMW Ipod kit, and the BMW auxiliary input. The first two show song titles and let you use steering wheel controls, as well as charging the Ipod. The auxiliary input is just that, a phono plug input, so it doesn't show song titles or have any controls, and you have to rig up a charger for the Ipod.

Lots of articles on the X5world home page on these and other options, including how-to install instructions.

I have the DICE and like it. Yes, it displays artist and title info. in the center cluster (at least for non-Nav vehicles).

i use the dice with the speck dock (ipod ashtray dock) - works great and I can choose to display text on my radio MID or on the tach.

I did the completer DICE ipod integration kit with spek-dock from BSW, for my iphone and installed it in my 04 X5, just 2 weeks ago it's awesome the customer service is top notch with all questions answered. Everything works like a charm.

I fully recommend the DICE kit with the speck dock-the dock makes it look factory installed. Its quit easy they have videos up on You tube for installation instructions.

Below is from a thread I did a few weeks back....

BSW-http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/

I received the Ipod Integration kit and spek dock I ordered for my iphone, with-in 3 days of putting the order in..

Best thing was their customer service, I phoned them numerous times, before the order with questions, during the order with questions and after receiving the order with questions, and the service they gave was top notch, very pleasant and patient with all my questions, not a hint of "oh man more questions in their tone" very professional and courteous.

They have installation videos on You Tube so I downloaded them onto my iphone, so while installing I would watch the video for each step (technology is amazing-and the iPhone more amazing!!)

Now I got it all hooked up and everything works flawlessly, I've got a very simple cheap Jabra Bluetooth Headset (BT2040) for $20 (don't need to go expensive cause I'm only planning on using it in the car and if the phone and headset are in line of sight the signal is very good), so when calls come in, the iPhone slowly fades the music and rings through the speaker and I just press my bluetooth set and answer the call, when I hang up the music fades back in at the same point. I can control the iPhone through the steering wheel, headunit and through the iPhone (the options are either to have text display or iPhone control set through the Dice unit, both options give you head unit and steering wheel control) I chose to have full iPhone control with headunit and Steering wheel.

Once again Thanks BSW for your awesome customer service....if their customer service was flaky I would have shyed away from ordering and performing the task of taking apart the Bimmer, but while talking to them it gave me confidence in their product and myself in performing this task knowing someone was just a phone call away with a pleasant helping attitude if I stumbled.[/quote]

For those of you using the Speck Deck (sp). How do you find the stability of the ipod when it is sitting in there during daily driving. When I ordered my DICE I opted out of that option fearing that the ipod may fall out of it fairly easily.

it stays in there fine - very secure. It's actuallythe same kind of docking as if in the bose. if you dont plan on driving like you're on a racetrack i think you'll be fine. its definitely looks good cosmetically, my dealer saw it and loved it, was even more suprised when i told him i installed it.
